Founded in 1974 by Dr. Constante Tan, Peninsula Nephrology Associates is a leader in providing superior care to kidney patients in the Eastern Shore of Maryland. After completing his fellowship at NYU, Dr. Tan joined Deer’s Head Hospital Center at Salisbury, during a time when it was the only dialysis center in the Eastern Shore, and Chronic Kidney Disease patients often had to travel to Baltimore for dialysis. Dr. Benito Chan joined Dr. Tan 2 years later, and together, they became the pioneers in providing dialysis treatments in the Eastern Shore. Dr. Kazi Khan joined the practice in 1998 after completing his fellowship at NYU and Dr. Michael Basuel in 2006 after his fellowship at VCU. Peninsula Nephrology Associates have been growing since then, with offices in Salisbury and Berlin, Maryland.
Each physician at Peninsula Nephrology Associates has extensive experience and is board certified by American Board of Internal Medicine. The practice offers a wide range of services designed to improve the function of kidneys and reduce kidney disease’s impact on a patient’s life. Some of the conditions treated at PNA are Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), hypertension, kidney stones, and electrolyte abnormalities. Recently, PNA began the Chronic Care Management (CCM) program, enabling patients struggling with multiple chronic illnesses to get faster and more proactive levels of support from their healthcare providers between office visits.

Known as the “The Comfortable Side of Coastal”, Salisbury is the largest city in the Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore region and the commercial hub of the Delmarva Peninsula. Located at the head of the Wicomico River, Salisbury has the second largest water port in Maryland. It is located 30 miles west of Ocean City and within a 3 hour drive of Washington D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia. Local area attractions include Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, home of the the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, and Salisbury Zoological Park, which has been recognized as one of the best small zoos in America. Salisbury is also home to two well known schools of higher education, Salisbury University and Wor-Wic Community College, and a regional airport.
